Hi Guys!
Whenever I post a how-to on crafting or cooking it’s usually a success. *cough cough lava lamp water bottles cough cough* The title “Life With Summer” combined with these posts gives you the impression that my life almost always an awesome success. But that’s not the way life is.
(Not the way my life is anyway.)
So I’ve decided I’m going to post the failures as well as the successes.
Today’s post is one of those on the middle ground. My paint chip calendar did not turn out as I had hoped, but I like it and will be using it often. Let’s get on with the photos!
Source: DIY Ready
Here’s what I started with:
Paint chips
Cardboard
A frame
Scissors
Glue
A Pencil
First I drew a template on my cardboard so I could see how big I would need the squares. I think my main downfall was here. I did not chose a frame that fit my squares. In the end you will see that I probably could have just used cardstock or colored paper. Oops.
But I surged on ahead. Here is a picture of all the squares messily laid out.
Why is the lighting so terrible? :(
Then I glued all the squares down. There really is only one spot that I don’t like, and it’s pretty easy to spot. A pretty basic mistake. Oh well.
so many photo problems
Then I stuck the paper inside my frame and secured it.
Here it is all colored in! I made the photo bigger so you can see it better. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It works perfect with dry erase markers so you can change it as the months and events go by. The colors go really nicely with the paint in my room. I will be using this lots since I don’t have a paper calendar. :)
See you next week!
P.S. Guys this is my 40th post! :D
