Pom-Poms!!

Hey people!!

Today’s post is going to be very fun.
We are going to make……….
POM-POMS!
Yaya!

:)

You will need:
Yarn
A dinner fork
Scissors

Thread the yarn through the middle two tines on the fork. You will want to leave a nice, long tail. Mine is too short here.

Start wrapping the yarn around the tines of the fork.

Keep wrapping! Remember, the more yarn you have the bigger the pom-pom will be.

Once you have wrapped the fork to your satisfaction, take the tail and go up and over the entire bundle.

Flip the fork over to the back. Thread the tail through the two middle tines again. Flip the fork back over.

It should look something like this.

Tie the yarn in a knot and cut the extra yarn.

Take the bundle off the fork and cut the loops in half. DON’T CUT THE LOOPS OFF! YOUR BRIGHT AND HAPPY POM-POM WILL BE REDUCED TO NOTHING BUT SAD, SAD BITS OF YARN. Only cut them in half.

You are halfway there! Now cut the other loops.

Yay! Your pom-pom is done! Now for the fun part: what you can DO with the pom-poms!!

You could glue googly-eyes on to make yourself a little fuzzy friend.

You could glue several together to make yourself a rainbow of fuzzy-ness!

If you make the tails extra long you can use it as a bookmark!

To make the double pom-pom all I did was make a pom-pom like normal except before I took the bundle off the fork I just started making another pom-pom around the first one. Tie it off like you would normally and you are done!

I hope you liked this how-to! I had a lot of fun with it and I think when we finally take down the Christmas decorations I will hang these around the house. Enjoy!

P.S. this is my 20th post! Just thought I'd mention it! :)

My Pocket Quilt!

Hello people of the inter-webs!

I apologize for slacking off with posting. Hopefully I will get back into the swing of things soon!

Anyway, today I decided to show off a quilt that I made!

Here is my pocket quilt! It is 49”x 60” or big enough to cover Mom (with the exception of 3 or 4 inches.) I used a tutorial out of a book called Project Teen to make it. I recommend checking it out, it has a lot of useful tutorials!

Here is one of the pockets. I made 12 pockets in all, 6 little pockets and 6 big ones.

Here is one of the smaller pockets. All of the pockets are lined.

I used blue minky for the back. Attaching the back to the front was interesting. We used a whole lot of normal pins to secure the back to the front, then we flipped it over so the front was facing up and put a safety pin in everyone of the squares. Then I had to sew the whole thing! We did not use a lining because A) that would have meant more layers and things to pin and B) my machine couldn’t have sewn the thing together in the end. It’s still very warm and cozy anyway!

So that’s my quilt! This has been a post that I’ve wanted to make for a long time, and now I finally have! Yay! Sorry that it is a little short, I’m hoping to get a good how-to or something up on Thursday. But that’s it for now!

5 Gift Ideas

Hello!

So for today I am going to be posting gift ideas for girls!
I will not be posting gift ideas for boys because I am a girl and I don’t know what boys would like. I will, however, mention if I think a gift could be given to a boy as well as a girl.
Glad that’s sorted.

Now to begin!

Now girls use their phones a lot. And because we use our phones a lot, our phones are not always charged when we need them to be. But with this portable charger all we have to do is plug this in at night and remember to keep a spare cord in our purses! This seems like something boys would like too, just not in the color pink. :)

Everybody loves a good candle! They come in soooooo many different scents and most of them smell amazing!! Consider buying a few small candles as a stocking stuffer, or even one big one.

Nail Polish!! This is one thing that most girls can’t seem to get enough of. Grab a few colors, wrap them up all pretty and you have a gift that won’t be rejected. Essie and OPI are some very common nail polish brands.

Water Bottles are something that can be appreciated by girls and boys. A fun thing to do with a water bottle is fill it up with small goodies that your person might enjoy (gift cards, nail polish, a portable charger).

Gift cards are something that’s very easy to supply and this way you won’t get them a present that they hate. I personally prefer gift cards to most presents because I enjoy picking out the item myself. You can get gift cards for any store that you shop at. This also is another gift that boys would enjoy as well as girls.

So there you have it! 5 different last minute gifts in case you are still struggling for a present. Enjoy!

Christmas Cookies!!

Hello mah people!

So usually I post a ‘how-to’ post, but today’s post is more of an “I was messing around with my siblings and I took pictures” post. So that is what we have here.

Here we are getting the dough ready. Isn’t Josh a cutie?!

Cutting out the cookies.

Rolled Paper Tree Ornament!!

Hey Guys!!
So a few months ago I subscribed to Gold Magazine. It is a magazine targeted toward young christian women and I really enjoy it. I recommend checking out here: www.goldmagazine.co. Anyway here is my good news: I sent in a few articles and they accepted one! Yay! I am currently impatiently waiting for the magazine to arrive. In the meantime I will post something for you to enjoy. :)

Rolled Paper Christmas Tree
Source: Her Tool Belt

You Will Need:
Yarn
Scrapbook paper
A bamboo skewer
Scissors
A pencil
Popsicle Sticks
A glue stick
Hot Glue Gun (not shown)

Measure out how long you want the first layer to be on the back of your scrapbook paper. Cut the paper to size.

Start rolling the paper around the bamboo skewer. When the skewer is covered with paper put some glue on the paper you have yet to roll. When you finish rolling your paper remove the skewer. Repeat to make more paper rolls.

Use the hot glue gun and secure the first paper roll onto the popsicle stick.

For each layer trim the edges so it is a little smaller than the previous layer.

When you finish gluing all the paper rolls onto the popsicle stick cut a small piece of yarn and secure it to the back of the tree with more hot glue. Cut out a small star from paper and glue it on top of the tree.

Enjoy your new ornament!

Nummy Snacks!

Hello!!
I am very sorry that I missed yesterday's post. We were busy making tons of baby blankets. If you would like me to do a post on that, let me know. I will be making more!

So today I was hungry.
Not quite the news flash you were expecting I bet.
This time I got something good out of it.
Besides food, I mean.
I got a blog post!
Yayy!!
So now I present to you:
NUMMY SNACKS!!!!

Vegetable Burst:
(no, it’s not fancy. I just tried to make it sound like something you would want to make.)

You will need:
Mini Carrots
Olives
Ranch

Get a plate and bowl.
I got my trusty Peter Rabbit plate.
The bowl is just a plain bowl, sorry.

Now pour some ranch into the bowl, arrange the carrots around the bowl, place the olives in seemingly-random places and you are done!
Now you get to eat it! You could even put an olive on a carrot and then dip the top on the olive is the ranch and you get everything in one bit! Amazing-ness!

Cheesy Tortilla
You will need:
Corn tortillas
Shredded cheese

Get a plate and two tortillas.
Put the cheese on one tortilla (try to get it as close to the edges as possible) and then sandwich them.
(Yes, that is the peter rabbit plate again.)

Now microwave for 20-30 seconds.
My cheese was frozen so it took a little longer than that, but it was still delicious!

I know I know, it doesn’t look fancy or good, but my little brother really loved it so it must be good!
How could that adorable little face be wrong?
:D

I hope you make these snacks and maybe you will even like them! Enjoy!
