School Crafts!

Hello!!
I like to have fancy things to use when it is school time.
And the table is clear.
So now it’s CRAFTY TIME!
Yay!

Decorated Pen!!

(I actually did a few pencils too before I realized I would have to take of the paper to sharpen them. So most of these pictures are from the pencils, but you just do it the same way for pens.)

You will need:
Paper (scrapbook, colored or plain)
Scissors (I also used a paper cutter for the strips)
Pens (to decorate)
Pens, pencils and markers (to write with)
Tape/Glue

First, cut your paper into strips. Size doesn’t matter too much, just don’t make them wider than an inch or thinner than a 1/2 inch.
If you have paper you want to decorate then now would be the time. Just remember, some of your design is going to get cut off or covered.
For my plain paper I went with a little swirly-wavy design.

Now take one end of your paper and cut off the corner. Something to note here would be that the steeper you make your cut, the more you will have to curl your paper. So if you make it almost-straight, it’s not going to want to curl.

Now put a little bit of tape or glue one the end you cut, and secure it at the top.
(sun why you so bright)
Now start wrapping!
Once you reach the end, cut off your extra paper and secure it.
I would recommend stopping a bit early to make sure your lid will fit on the pen.
And now you’re done!
This is really a thing you have to practice to get it right. So don’t be disappointed if your first one doesn’t look so good! Just keep practicing.

Fancy notebook!

I love this color/font combination so much I’m going to keep it.

You will need:
Paper
Tape/Glue
Markers, Pens, Pencils
Paper
Scissors

Cut your paper to fit your notebook.

Now cut a piece of paper 3*4 ½ and a plain piece of paper 2*3 ½. Glue the smaller one on top of the larger one. Glue both to the notebook near the top.

And you are done! This is super easy, and now my old notebook looks super cute AND it has a label!! You could also do this to a folder if you wanted to.

And that’s it! If I can think of any more crafts I will post them, but for now I have craft-block.
That is totally a real thing.
Not.
Anyway, I hope you like your “new” notebook and pens!!

Nail Art!

So I’ve been seeing a lot of fun nail art on Pinterest, and some of them look pretty easy.

Now, if you are a long-time Pinterest user, you would know 85% of things on Pinterest are not as easy as they look. And if you are a new Pinterest user, I hope you learn something.

But I was bored. So I did some. Here are the results.

Here is the first one. Pretty simple, right?

The result:
You can see where I had to clean it up a bit. I didn’t go all the way because it was still very wet.

After drying and cleaning:

Not bad, with practice this could come out very nice. I see lots of potential.
Rating: Maybe

Next:
So I know this is on a fake nail, but I think it would still work. So let’s see!

The result:
Ummmm…..no. I was wrong.
I stand corrected.
Rating: No.
Moving on!
This is sooo cool. Especially for someone like me who LOVES books!
The Result:
Yay!! It worked!! You can tell I did a terrible job on painting my nail, but other than that, it is totally
a success!!
Rating: Yes Yes Yes!!!
Next art:
So cute!

The Result:
Hrrmmmmm…..
HHHHRRMmmmmmmm….
I suppose with practice it could be perfected, but right here, I had no practice, so this is what it is.
Rating: Maybe

So I hope you enjoyed this nail….tutorial? Review? Both? I don’t know, but I had a lot of fun making the post and I hope you had fun reading it.

(And maybe it inspired you to try some of these crazy things. I recommend the word nails. ;) )

Chocolate Covered Coconut Balls!!

So I needed an idea for a blog post.
And I thought, “what about a treat?”
And then I thought, “what about a healthy treat that Mom and all the other healthy people out there can enjoy?”
So after browsing Pinterest for ten minutes (*gasp* only ten minutes?!) I found a recipe.
Yay!
So here are my Chocolate Covered Coconut Balls.
I’m sorry, coconut-haters, but you are just going to have to sit this one out.
Recipe Credit: Pinch of Yum

What you will need:
(sorry for the blurry pic)

2 cups desiccated coconut
4 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
5 tablespoons coconut oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup dark chocolate for melting (i.e. chocolate chips)

Blend the coconut in the food processor until the texture is like thick flour.
Transfer coconut to a bowl and add honey or maple syrup, coconut oil and vanilla. Combine until make a thick-ish batter.

Get out a cookie sheet and some wax paper. Use your hands to make bite-sized balls out of the coconut mixture and set on the wax paper. Set inside the fridge for 30 mins or until hard.
Now get out your chocolate chips and slowly melt them. I used the double-boiler method, where you fill a pot with water and then put your bowl on top (with the chocolate chips inside) and put the whole thing on the stove. Be careful to not get any water in the chocolate chips or it will seize up and harden. It sounds more complicated than it really is.
Once your chocolate chips have melted, get out your balls and dip them in the chocolate. Use forks to roll them around, then set them back on the cookie sheet. Repeat for all the balls.
(obviously my chocolate rolling skills are lacking a little bit of...well, skill)
Now put them in the fridge again and wait for them to harden.
And you are done!
These are really delicious and fun to just snack on whenever you want a little sweetness. :) I hope you give these a try!

How to make Paper Flowers!

I was bored.
I needed something to do.
And I had spent too much time on Pinterest already.
Thus, a recipe for a new decoration appeared in my head.
And now,
A CRAFT!
XD
We are going to make these beauties:

Paper flowers!
These are super fun and super easy to make, not to mention adorable!
You will need:

Any colored paper of your choice-I used construction paper.
Scissors, a stapler, Glue-Dots and a paper cutter.
The paper cutter is optional, I only used it to cut the strips of paper, but you could use some scissors for that.

Cut the paper into one-inch strips.

Pinch the strips halfway and line up the ends (but don’t fold it!!)

Now staple it about one inch in.

Now repeat for more petals! To make the big flower I make 13 or 14 petals, but just make as many as you want, 5, 6 or 10, it really depends on what you like.

(Sorry for the blurry quality :s)
Now for the middle of the flower, cut out 2 circles. Do this however you like, I bet you all know how to cut out circles! :)
Now stick a glue dot in the middle of one of the circles.

Begin adding the petals by pressing one at a time into the glue.

Keep adding…..

You’re almost done!

Now take the second circle, put a glue dot in the middle and carefully apply it to the middle of the petals.

When you finish, it should look something like this.
And now it is ready to put up on your wall! I am guilty of making 10 of these, not all of which are shown in the pictures.
Here you can see the ones with fewer petals, these were some of my first flowers.
And that’s it! I hope you give this a try, it is a perfect decoration for your room for the more warm seasons!
